My First Lesson Plan for the Induction Program





 Today was my first time teaching in the level I observe ECA 2. I am going to write about my real experience today later. However, today I want to share with you my experience in preparing the lesson and  sharing with you my lesson plan.

The lesson assigned to me to prepare is about expressing a wish or arranging for something in the future using the phrase (عايز) or (عايزة) + verb + noun


 e.g. عايز أشرب قهوة
عايز أروح النادي
عايزين نسافر كندا

 I believe many of us find it difficult to write down his/her own plan. Lots of thoughts wondering around in your mind, and you are waiting for the right thought that is to be the "LEAD IN" to your lesson. In other words, we may say brainstorming is the key to all of this, write down on a piece of paper all the thoughts you feel are relevant to your lesson and later you will edit that to confirm which thought is more applicable to your lesson and which one you can skip it or may fit another lesson. You have to think about every detail in the lesson starting from the main objectives, passing by the subsidiary aims, personal aims, each stage and how you are going to present it, activities and their aims and whether it achieves your main goals or not, anticipated problems and the proper solution if you encounter them. Above all searching for the materials that is going to support your lesson and make it easy for comprehension. I have searched a lot over the Internet to find the right visuals and planned for each activity, I have read the lesson in the course book over and over for analysis and tried to put myself in the student's shoes.

 Today I will just leave you with the lesson plan I have prepared for today's lesson, and hopping to get feedback from you if you are reading this in a comment. Lesson plan


  • Main Aim:

Using and practicing (عايز-عايزة) + verbs to describe actions that will take place in the future, after a minute, next day, tomorrow, next week or even the next year.

  • Subsidiary Aim:

Knowing the difference between the present, past and future. Besides, the keywords that indicates the future.

  • Personal Aim:

Controlling the TT, giving much time for students to use the language in pair and group activities. Giving clear and focused instructions with the activities. Never entering the students’ zone. Grading activities, easy comes first then a bit challenging.

  • Anticipated problems and solutions

·      *  In Meaning: (the wordيوصل، يستقبل، يقص), these new words will be supported by visual aids to help students get an idea of it means.
·     *   In Form: verb conjugation with (عايز-عايزة) may confuse some of the students, however, illustration on board using color codes, practising and drilling on different examples using different activities to form and answer questions will probably solve this issue.
·    *    In Pronunciation:  the (ق) in (يستقبل- حلاق) are pronounced like /a/ if it happens, I will use peer correction, and focus on the /a/ sound.

Writing pronouns on board and eliciting the form from them using color codes.

Leading to a story focusing on (HE) + (عايز) + verbs. To practice verb conjugations with the pronoun (he) before moving to other pronouns.
Using a timeline to focus on the days of the week to know what he is going to do today, tomorrow, next Saturday and next week to highlight that (عايز) + verb can refers to plans in the near future and any future.

Group Activity
Asking and answering questions about what he wants to do today, tomorrow and next Saturday.
Giving a model question :
هو عايز يعمل ايه النهاردة؟
Giving simple instructions to set a question on each picture asking each other, one asks a question and the other answers this question in turn.

Group Activity
Retelling the same story using the pronoun (I) and (she). This is to practice verb conjugations with different pronouns.
Using the same pictures will ask them each in turn to use (I) + (تصريف عايز) with each picture

Group Activity
Making sentences using illustrative Flash cards. To practice using the targeted language.
Giving them a pile of cards. Each card represent an action he, she or I may want to do in the future. Each in turn will make a sentence using a different pronoun.

SS then Group Work
Checking understanding through exercises.
A print out paper with some illustrative pics, and giving them time to think of forming a sentence on each picture. Or giving them a group of the used verbs to form sentences.
5-10 min
Group Activity
A role play for freer practice of the targeted Language.
Setting a situation:
Mona wants to travel to Gouna next month, her friends will start asking her what do you want to do there? She start to answer using (أنا عايزة) + verb
